Hannah Thiem

Hannah Thiem is the violinist/vocalist of Copal and violinist of Nyxyss. On stage, Hannah has opened for The Rolling Stones (with Kanye West), at Madison Square Garden, NYC with Kanye West, Bassnectar at Stubb's in Austin, TX (with Haj Ji and Jon Margulies), Shpongle Live at Hammerstein Ballroom, NYC (solo) and EOTO at both the Skyway Theater in Minneapolis, MN (solo) and House of Blues, Boston, MA. She's been sighted on TEDxBrooklyn for a nationally broadcast performance, as well as a guest performer at the Alvin Ailey Gala in NYC. She is a former resident at NYC's Church and Alex Grey's Chapel of Sacred Mirrors (CoSM). Hannah studied classical, world, and jazz at New England Conservatory in Boston, MA, and in Spain, Morocco, Greece and Germany, as well as electronic music production at Dubspot in NYC. 

In studio, she recorded with Grammy-nominated Irma Thomas (Rounder Records 2008), rising stars Beats Antique (Contraption, Vol. 1), Voltaire (Brian Viglione of Dresden Dolls and Melora Kreuger of Rasputina also on the record), and Mark Saunders (multi-platinum producer for The Cure, Cyndi Lauper, David Byrne), Ancient Astronauts (Switchstance Recordings), and The Rising Smoke of the Hobo Kings' EP: Smotin' at the Water (Jon Margulies, Haj Ji). With her bands Copal and Nyxyss, or solo, Hannah's inspired melodic sense stirs both deep emotions and dancefloors.
